AFRICA'S TRADE ROUTE WILL PASS THROUGH TURKEY


Turkey aims to integrate Africa into global trade corridors thanks to the memorandum of understanding it signed with 7 African countries, including Mauritania and Somalia. The agreement plans to establish direct maritime connections between ports in Africa and Turkish ports.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Strengthening Transport Connectivity with 7 African countries.

The Minister said, "With this agreement, the African continent will be integrated into the Development Path via the Persian Gulf and into the Middle Corridor via Turkey."

He provided information about cooperation with African countriesUraloğlu provided information about cooperation with African countries within the scope of the "Global Transport Corridors Forum" in his written statement.


Uraloğlu stated that they held a special session titled "Developing Connectivity of Global Transit Corridors with Africa via Turkey" within the scope of the forum and stated that Burkina Faso, Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Morocco, Somalia, Mauritania and Liberia participated in the session as ministers, Namibia as deputy undersecretaries, and Ivory Coast and Egypt as embassy representatives.
"Following the session, we signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Strengthening Transport Connectivity with 7 African countries, namely Mauritania, Somalia, Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Liberia, Guinea and Ghana. With this Memorandum of Understanding, we will establish direct connections between African ports and Turkish ports. With the agreement, the African continent will be integrated into the Development Path via the Persian Gulf and into the Middle Corridor via Turkey. We will ensure the continent's uninterrupted access to world trade corridors. Thanks to these connections, Africa will be directly involved in the trade flow extending to Asian markets and from there to Europe."
